Knitters turn craft hobby into $1 billion business

More knitting in the news! Thanks to another Daily Knitter reader who forwarded this article to us that appeared in the Miami Herald on Feb 21st.

The article does mention that knitters are now known in some circles as "fiber artists." Maybe we should re-name the site The Daily Fiber Artisit? Here's the link below.

Knitting, purling and the opposite sex

Adult men knitting? t's true! And thanks to an article by Lloyd Garver in the Santa Monica Press, we now can confirm a knitting shop in New York’s Greenwich Village has a weekly Men’s Only night. Check out the article "Knitting, purling and the opposite sex" with the link below.

We have received over 200 emails in the past few weeks and are busy updating the listing. We appreciate the help and strive to keep the directory as accurate as possible. Keep the emails coming!

It Felted Perfectly

I was surprised when I opened up the washing machine and saw how quickly and nicely an upcoming Daily Knitter Exclusive Knitting Pattern felted. I used a combination of two Shilasdair wool yarns from the UK based Skye Yarn Company. This was the first time I had felted this yarn and I was so pleased! It's amazing, isn't it, how some wool yarns felt well and some don't. Keep an eye out for a new felted purse pattern and a new article where we test different yarns for felting.
